6th Graders Gear-Up!

Student & Father at UC Davis

UC Davis

On May 15, 2012, our 6th grade students had an experience that further emphasized the college-bound environment promoted on the campus of Franklin Middle School.  The tour of the University of California at Davis campus was not only inspirational and motivating, but extremely informative.  Students toured the campus, met with college students and faculty members, and had an opportunity to ask many questions.  It was a day that many students (and the parents who joined us) will hopefully use as a catalyst to increase college awareness.  A special note of thanks goes to Mrs. McGriff, Gear-Up School Site Coordinator, for being instrumental in making this event happen and to all of the other 6th grade teachers and staff members who also assisted in making this day happen for our students.

Congratulations, Dr. DuBois!

We believe that Benjamin Franklin Middle School exists to serve all of our school population.

We envision working with our parents and community to ensure that all students are motivated to achieve high standards and are provided with the support and services necessary to make every student successful.

Benjamin Franklin Middle School is a place where students feel safe and have a sense of belonging.

It is a place where the joy of learning is a reality and all students know that they have ownership in their school.

Together, we share resources in our mutual efforts to make the learning process relevant for all students.

People who share a common direction and purpose can reach goals more quickly.

The Franklin Middle School staff, parents/guardians and community will demonstrate their dedication to a quality educational program.

Together, we do make a difference!

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to meet or exceed our goals in the area of equity, excellence, and educational effectiveness, which determines our day-to-day efforts. We will utilize collaboration and encourage teamwork to accomplish these goals. We recognize that in order to be successful, it is important to have powerful home-to-school relationships that supports the success of all students. Because safety is also a primary goal for each school campus, we will enforce high adult visibility and respond to student matters, in a timely manner. In order to assess whether students are meeting academic and social expectations, we will consistently monitor student progress by the use of a variety of data: observations, walkthroughs, progress reports, test scores, etc. We also commit to focusing our resources to best support our students.
